Yoyodyne Slipper Clutch Ducati 1098 1198 1100
The slipper clutch is designed to partially disengage or "slip" when the rear wheel tries to drive the engine faster than it would run under its own power. The engine braking forces in conventional clutches will normally be transmitted back along the transmission causing the rear wheel to hop, chatter or lose traction. Slipper clutches eliminate this extra loading on the rear suspension giving riders a more predictable ride and minimize the risk of over-revving the engine during downshifts. Slipper clutches can also prevent a catastrophic rear wheel lockup in case of engine seizure. Yoyodyne slipper clutch uses ball bearings on the ramps for superior performance to the OEM ramp on ramp design.
This clutch uses a 45 degree ramp angle and works well in all street applications and most track uses. For more slip, we offer a 43 degree ramp angle clutch. Includes a new basket, hub, and pressure plate specially made with a wear resistant surface, or a built-in steel friction plate.
Slipper clutches use a different stack order than the stock clutch. We suggest the use of a sintered clutch pack. If unsure about your particular application please contact us for more info.
